Football Rules: Race to x Goals / Race to x Goals live

Race to X Goals

Market description: Predict which team will reach a specified number of goals first. Examples:

  • Race to 2 goals (Newcastle v Man City)
    • If Newcastle score 2 goals before Man City, they'll be deemed the winning selection in the market.
  • Race to 3 goals (Newcastle v Man City)
    • If Man City score 3 goals before Newcastle, they'll be deemed the winning selection in the market.

1. Bets are settled on the events that occur in normal time. This includes any injury/stoppage time added on by the match official at the end of normal time.

2. Extra time doesn't count.

3. If the specified number of goals aren't scored, the winning selection in the market will be neither team.

4. If a match is postponed, normal postponed match rules apply.

5. If a match is abandoned, normal abandoned match rules apply.

  • If a match is abandoned and a winning selection has been established in the time played before abandonment, bets placed on that selection in this market will have already won and will be settled as winners. Bets placed on other selections in this market will have already lost.
  • If a match is abandoned and no winning selection has been established in the time played before abandonment, bets placed will be void, subject to normal abandoned match rules, because the match didn't play for the full duration.

6. Settlement of all stats markets will be based on data provided by OPTA (Part of the Stats Perform Group).

  • OPTA stats are available here.
  • OPTA may occasionally go back and make amendments to ensure accuracy. We'll settle all markets based on their final decision.
  • Adjustments to the settlement of markets won't be made for changes or adjudications made by governing bodies after the event.
  • OPTA have a long-established list of ‘Event Definitions’ which are adhered to across all of their data collection centres. They can be accessed here.
