Q: What's Rule 4?
A: Rule 4 deduction is an industry-wide practice applied on a racing bet when a horse is withdrawn from the race.
When a horse withdraws, the remaining horses now each have a better chance of winning.
If there’s time, bookmakers will adjust the prices available so any new bets placed reflect this increased chance.
If we've captured your bet before the horse withdraws and your bet goes on to win, we need to adjust your returns.

Q: What's a dead heat?
A: In horse racing, a dead heat is when 2 or more selections cannot be separated by the Judge, even after consulting the photo finish.
To calculate your returns, just divide your stake by the number of selections involved in the dead heat.

Q: My horse hasn’t run/ran on a different race at the festival and it’s been settled as a loser. Why?
A: There's a different settlement rule for 'Antepost' and 'Non Runner Money Back (NRMB)' markets:
- For Antepost bets, it's a losing bet based on our Antepost Betting Rules. Some customers like to take this chance in exchange for Antepost prices, which are often higher than prices available nearer the time of the race.
- For Non Runner Money Back bets placed 48 hours before each race, it's void and the stake shall be refunded.
Q: Do you still pay First Past The Post?
A: Yes, we've again decided to pay this for UK and Irish horse race meetings.
However, be reminded that this isn't applicable to placed horses that were demoted.
Click here to learn more about our First Past The Post rules.
Q: What's William Hill Fair Play?
A: We'll make your horse a non-runner if any of these happens:
- Refuses to race whilst under orders
- Remains in the stalls after the off
- On other occasions where we feel there's been an injustice.
Check more about this here.
Q: Where can I check your general Horse Racing rules?
A: You can check these here.
Q: I have a free bet but I can't seem to find and use it. What should I do?
A: On mobile and desktop, your free bet will appear in your bet slip once you've added a selection to the bet slip.
On desktop, you can also see an overview of all of your free bets and bonus information (including the value of your free bet and the expiry time/date) by clicking on the 'Balance' icon and selecting the 'Free Bets/Bonuses' tab.

Q: Why can't I 'Cash In My Bet'?
A: The Cash In My Bet (CIMB) function might not be available for a number of reasons. The most common ones are:
- Betting is suspended or unavailable on one (1) or more unsettled selection within a bet.
- Enhanced Odds, #YourOdds, Build #YourOdds, Super Odds and Flash Odds markets don't qualify for cash in.
- When there's an obvious pricing error (also known as palpable error).
- Accumulator bets (e.g if there's a selection which isn't available for cash in, the whole bet won't be available for cash in).
- Each way bets don't qualify for cash in.
- Cash in may be affected if your bet triggers a free bet promotion. See individual promotional terms for details.
- Cash In option is only available for selected betting markets. Click here for full details of available markets.

Q: I want to withdraw my winnings. Why are you asking for documents?
A: It's for security or Know Your Customer (KYC) reasons. Some of the common reasons are:
- You're withdrawing via a method different to your deposit method.
- You're making a large withdrawal.
- You might be using a payment method not belonging to yourself.

Q: I've changed my mind and I want to reverse my withdrawal. Can I do it?
A: If you're a UK customer, unfortunately you're no longer allowed to reverse any withdrawal you've made. This is due to the guidance of the Gambling Commission as of 30th June 2020.
If you're a non-UK customer, you'll still be able to reverse your withdrawal request while it's showing as 'pending' (more details here).
However, note that since we’ve shortened our processing times to support Visa Direct, reverse withdrawal windows for all card withdrawals have also been reduced (more information here).
