Q: Why have deposits via credit cards been stopped?
A: As a result of changes coming in to law in relation to the Betting (Prohibition on Use of Credit Cards) Bill, we’ve stopped accepting deposits from credit cards.
We've removed the ability to deposit using a credit card for all customers registered as living in Ireland - even if your credit card is issued by a non-Irish bank.
Q: Which payment types does this apply to?
A: These payment types apply to:
- Deposits by credit cards
Q: What do I need to do if I only had a credit card registered to my account?
A: Just log in to your William Hill account and add another payment method, such as a debit card or Bank Transfer.
Your credit card will no longer show as a deposit option, and your new method will automatically become your default.
Q: I have another payment method registered to my account. Do I need to do anything?
A: No, you don’t need to do anything.
Your credit card will no longer show as a deposit option, and your alternative method will automatically become your default deposit method.
Q: I’m an Irish customer, but my card is issued by a non-Irish bank. Can I still use it?
A: No. The restriction applies to customers registered as living in Ireland - even if your credit card is issued by a non-Irish bank.
Q: I’m a non-Irish customer, but my card is issued by a Irish bank. Can I still use it?
A: Yes. The restriction only applies to customers registered as living in Ireland.
Q: Can I change my registered country (and continue to use a credit card)?
A: We can only change your registered country if you’ve moved, and we’d need your ID and new proof of address documents first.
We'll then need to close your existing account and open a new one for you.
A: Yes, you can still play with those funds - but you won’t be able to use your credit card to deposit anymore.
Q: Can I still withdraw back to my credit card?
A: Yes, it works the same way it did before – so if your deposit came from a credit card, you can still withdraw back to the same method.
Q: How do I withdraw if my registered credit card has expired?
A: If the credit card you used to deposit with has expired, you’ll need to withdraw via bank transfer to a bank account in your name.

Q: Will you delete my credit card from my account?
A: No, we won’t. That way, you can still use it to withdraw (while the card is valid).
